Hi,

I know that windows 7 isn't officially supported yet by Fusion but given how much better it performs on my mac pro over vista x64 I've made the switch and I'm running the official release candidate. When I run my windows 7 boot camp partition it says that I need to reactivate windows 7 and I know that it didn't do that with vista x64. Are there any plans to add preliminary boot camp support for windows 7 in the next release of fusion or will that not happen until windows 7 is officially released?

The Windows 7 is supported experimentally and it is still the beta version. When the hardware change is detected the OS will look for the activation. Try creating two different hardware profiles for Boot Camp and Fusion.

I'm having the same problem with Windows 7 x86 activation with VMware Fusion V2.05. Can you please provide instructions on how to create two different hardware profiles for Boot Camp and Fusion in Windows 7? With Windows XP this was not a big deal, since a tab in the Advanced settings was available which allowed you to change the profile at will. But in Windows 7 this tab is not available. If I create a new User with admin rights and name him "VMware", will this allow me to log in to my user name or VMware upon start up, and if so, will this change the associated hardware profile to get me out of the activation loop? I could try it, of course, but thought I'd ask before I start medding with the system settings.

P.S. Otherwise VMware Fusion supports Windows 7 as a Boot Camp virtual machine rather well.

Everything I've seen seems to indicate that you can't create hardware profiles in Vista or Windows 7 as you could in XP.

That's what I thought...well, I hate to go back to Windows XP and am kinda enjoying playing around with the new version. I'll just keep activating both sides when prompted while we wait for an update from VMware.

Each time I start up the Windows 7 Ultimate as a virtual machine from the Boot Camp partition and check the System settings in the Control Panel I note there are 3 days left to activation...and that for the past four days! So I've kept my current activation in the Boot Camp partition and so far have ignored the virtual machine. Unless I receive a pop-up message warning me to immediately activate the virutal machine I'll leave it at that.
