Hello,

Installation on x86_64 Fedora 10 fails.... All I get is 'Failed to Install' Granted I did get a 'Failed to get value for `/desktop/gnome/interface/accessibility' from the installer as well.

Granted gconftool-2 also returns nothing but no errors.

Texiwill, can you please re-run with: sudo sh -c 'VMIS_LOG_LEVEL=DEBUG VMware-Workstation-e.x.p-169612.x86_64.bundle' and upload /var/log/vmware-installer? That will give a little more information about what happened during the install.

You can also try: sudo VMware-Workstation-e.x.p-169612.x86_64.bundle --console to install in console mode. I'd be interested in knowing whether that works.

As a final workaround, you can delete /etc/vmware-installer/bootstrap and /etc/vmware-installer/database and try it again. Depending on what the error is, that may get it working...

Do you have any suspicious messages in /var/log/vmware-installer? I had similar issues - traced it back to the fact that my kernel had a couple kvm modules loaded that were blocking access to the processor virtualization capabilities. Was able to clear it up easily by modprobe -r kvm and modprobe -r kvm_intel.

Make sure the kernel module's not loaded. Try "lsmod | grep kvm". I assumed that because libvirtd wasn't running I was good. Wrong answer. I had to manually unload the modules.

Can't say this is a bad on VMware - it's a basic limitation of virtualization technology to have one hypervisor running at a time (in order to support the hardware-assisted aspects of new chipsets).
