I recently installed VCenter server to manage my ESXi 3.5u2 environment. After enabling HA i realized that i had not configured the userworld swap locations for each of the host. HA did not error out when i enabled it and vCenter server reports HA as enabled. My question is: Are the scratch config files no longer required for HA to function with the new vCenter server?

I am unaware of any configuration that needs to be made with regards to a "scratch config". HA is dependent on name resolution, and if HA configured correctly in your cluster, then more than likely you are ok.

If you don't have errors, I would say you are ok, but I am not that familiar with ESXi. I did find this thread regarding scratch configs
