Hi all

Had this error message pop up on launching Fusion : serial0: The socket address name for the virtual printer daemon is too long (/var/....name of folder etc) ....The device will be disconnected. If I just OK the message, XP boots up fine. However, there could be an underlying problem so....I deleted the file in question from the /var folder and got rid the windows printer in the vm. I still get the message when launching Fusion. Could it be a corrupt vm?

cheers for any help guys, you're great.:)

Hi
Just joined the forum after searching for anything with the same error. The problem is almost definitely too long a username. The temp folder that the printers use contains a lot of random-ness and your username. I found out we have the error when the mac is bound to AD domain because then the username is "UserName@MyBigLongDomainName.com" - add this to /var/folders/-q/-randomGUIDofSomeSort/-Tmp-/ then you end up with a folder path that is too long.
That's my guess. I'm hoping VM will know how to solve it for us.
