I was able to get VMWare Workstation 6.5.2 working on Fedora 11, but only after applying a patch for the 2.6.29 kernel. The patch was created by Krellan, and is discussed here:

Note that some folks are having success running VMs under VMWare Workstation after applying this patch, but some (including me) are having troubles shutting down the VMs. Some have suggested accessing the machine via ssh (or RDP as appropriate) and then shutting the VM down that way, rather than through the VMWare Workstation GUI.

Hi

This may seem odd, but because of the problem shutting down vm's on fed 11, I decided to migrate to virtualbox (dont all shout), anyway having installed the 64 bit version for Fedora 11 unbelievably my vmware machines shut down effortlesly now. Not sure what its done but it does recompile the kernel so can only deduce that it has added something that is missing with Vmware.....happy now I can continue with Vmware :)
