Hello all.

I try to set up a HA cluster with 3 node based on IBM 3650 with ESXi-3.5u4 but get error:

"HA agent on esxnode-XX.esx.domain.org in cluster ClusterName in Datacenter has an error"

I google it and found FQDN relayted problems.
I make a FQDN A and PTR record for each node. VC resolve it by A and PTR easly.
I reboot all nodes. I add it by FQDN. But still got this error.

What else could cause what? Is VmWare have a document covers right HA configuretion?

Be sure that nome, domain and network are correct.
From each ESX try to do a ping to the other.
And be sure that also VC could resolv the correct FQDN.

But as I know after u2 were is no need to resolving node by node - it is all use VC for this.

Yes, but there could be still some issue with DNS resolution.
You network and domanin name are correct?
On each ESX hostname give the right name?

Hi - delete the FT_HOSTS file on each ESX host that has the issue if it exists and then try reconfiguring your cluster for HA.

Hi

HA will give agent error and it will not work when you have ESX3i swap file not created properly. please check the swap

config-->storage-->properties--> it will show DOS 16 bit<32

DOS 16bit<>32=4.00GB (SWAP) if swap not there

go to advanced setting -->scratch config-->location path give /vmfs/volume/UID

search config = configured Swap state; restart you ESX3i server

thanks
