After clicking safely remove hardware - USB IRDA my computer crashes and I am forced to power off the computer. If I leave the USB IRDA attached and log off from windows and out of VMWare Fusion, I can then physically remove it without a problem.

I am using the USB IRDA with Polar Pro Trainer program on Vista, on a MacBook 13".

I couldn't find a panic log as such, but hope this log is the correct one - I tried the USB IRDA on both Vista and Windows 7 with the same result.

Those aren't the right logs. Try this:

In the Finder, press command-shift-G. This should bring up a sheet saying "Go to the folder:". Type in "/Library/Logs/" (no quotes). Do you see a panic.log there?

I´m having same problem with XP pro and Polar Pro Trainer. "Panic" Shutdown happens when removing USB IRDA by safely remove hardware.

Hi Eric

Were you able to discover anything from the panic logs?

Andrew

Sorry, lost track of the thread. The logs indicate you're hitting a known USB bug in 10.5.6 - I think 10.5.7 fixed it.

I'm running Fusion V2.0.4 on Vista Home Basic. Not sure what app you are referring to regarding 10.5.7.

Apple's USB drivers had a bug in OS X 10.5.6 which would cause panics in some cases.
