Key Mapping just doesn't work

Running XP SP3 off of my bootcamp partition in VMWare fusion 2.0.4 on my macbook pro (leapard 10.5.7). I cannot get key mapping to work to save my life. I've tried enabling and disabling, unity and full screen, and nothing. Since I wasn't raised a mac user I swap the modifier keys for CMD and control on the OS X side, which switches the keys on the XP side. I can change back the keys in OS X and everything works normal in XP, but is backwards (default os x layout) in OS X. quite annoyed. Is there a solution to this or do I just need to wait for an update?

I seem to have the same problem. In VMWare Fusion 2.0.4, the Command key activates the start menu, no matter what the keyboard mappings are, in Windows Server 2008 guest OS. Keyboard mapping used to work. Apparently VMWare broke it in their latest update. Figures, maybe they've never heard of pre-release testing.

... actually, it's Windows Server 2003 (not 2008)... but same thing.

Had to manually disable the Windows Key in the registry.

VMWare is just forcing its defaults, no matter what is set in the preferences.

Thanks Tom,

Additionally, I installed the Windows 7 RC x64, and had no key mapping issues. It was installed under "windows server 2008" since there was no selection for windows 7. Strange to me how key mapping will work in one windows environment and not the other. I can't seem to figure out if VMWare is aware of this problem and trying to fix it or not. I love being able to use the two system along side eachother, but the key mapping is just too anoying to deal with and I really need a fix. Perhaps I do need to go into the registry, I just really hate playing around in there.

Thanks,
-MO
