Frequent VI client disconnects on ESXi 3.5 U4? posted: Apr 12, 2009 9:37 AM

Just rebuilt a server server yesterday that used to have ESX 3.5 U3 and decided to go with ESXi.

One thing I've noticed is that it seems to have a really low inactivity timer, though I don't seem to have ever seen a setting for that kind of thing. I've been setting up a new VM and any time I step away for a few monitors or switch to my webbrowser for a few, I come back to the VI client saying it lost the connection. Though before on full ESX, I used to leave the VI client open all day without an issue.

Is there any setting to change the inactivity timeout?

Yes, and it is most annoying. I am using ESX 3.5 U4. This is a fresh install and I have not previously used U3. I am new and have searched all the obvious places for a setting. Please post if you find it and I will do the same.

Thanks.

Same problem with ESXi U2.
