Hello all. Is anyone else having an issue with the email notification flag? I have set the flag for multiple threads today and I am not receiving emails. In fact when I check my notification list it does not contain any of the notifications that I have set today. The only thread from today that is listed in my notications is a thread that I posted in. I noticed that if I turn notifications on in a thread and the refresh the page that the notification is cleared.

Cheers

Kevin

Hello all. I am again in the same situation. None of the alerts I set today are set in my Notification alert screen and I am therefor not getting alerts when threads are updated. Any one seeing this?

Cheers

Anyone? I am still unable to add alerts to threads. Is there a maximum number of threads that you can have alerts set for or something that I do not know about?

Cheers

I'm investigating it -- sorry, I meant to post a reply to that effect. There is not a maximum number of watches you can set.

Thanks Robert. It is really quite intermitent, so I think it will end up being hard to track down. At any rate it seems to be working again. But I am quite sure that before the day is out I will be unable to add new alerts. Would you like me to provide examples of threads I am unable to add in the future?

Cheers

Yes, please send examples when you find them.

I had an internal user who claimed the same problem yesterday, and I then tried exactly what he was doing and it worked for me. So, definitely an intermittent problem, but one I'm working on.

Thanks, Robert

Hey Robert. I found the following thread that after selecting to receive alerts and then refreshing the page it shows I am not receiving alerts.

Hey Robert, it has been a week and I have not run into this issue again. I am not sure if you made any changes but it would appear that the problem is resolved. Thanks for looking into the problem for us.

Cheers

I'm glad to hear it's not happening anymore. But to be honest, it appears to be an intermittent issue, so it would not surprise me if it happened again. The good news is that it doesn't seem to happen very frequently and I have only seen a small number of community members report it. But if you see it again, please report it, and I'll continue to investigate or see if I can correlate it to some other external events. Thanks, Robert

Hello Robert, it seemed to work for a few days but recently I have been having to hit Receive email notifications multiple times for it to take.

My dev't team is actively investigating this issue. We have a theory about the root cause, and it seems to be related to document editing failures and image insertion failures that people have been reporting. I will update the VMware Communities Blog when I have more information.

Thanks, Robert

Hey Robert. I was wondering if there has been any progress on this issue? To be honest the problem seems to be getting worse, as now the only way I can ever receive an email from a thread is by posting to it. The 'Receive email notifications' button is essentially useless for me. I took a look at the communities page and saw an update from last but did not see any mention of this issue. Thank you for looking into this.

Cheers

We still believe this error is related to some caching side-effects, and we are working to investigate it. We are making some progress, but still have not identified the root cause. I'll update the blog when I have more information. This continues to be a high-priority investigation.

Thanks, Robert
