I am using VMware Fusion 2.0.1, Windows XP Pro SP3.

I am considering purchasing an LG GE20LU10. The specs shown for this machine are:

System requirements:
Windows ® 2000 Professional, XP Home/ Professional/ Media Center Edition, or Vista ™ x86/x64
Pentium® III 1GHz or faster
256MB RAM or larger
20GB or more of available HDD space
64MB video memory or higher
USB 2.0 interface

Can anyone tell me "yes" or "no" as regards the "hardware" of the VM? It would appear ok to ke except for the Pentium III requirement. I cannot figure that ffom what I see in the Xp/Control Panel/System/Hardware.

I cannot vouch for the hardware your purchasing as to it working in a Virtual Machine although I'd expect that it would however a default Fusion 2.x Easy Install Windows XP virtual Machine meets and or exceeds all of the requirements however you can verify via the target Virtual Machines Settings in Fusion what you have allocated for RAM, Hard Drive size, USB 2 etc. If you have 3D enabled the video memory is 128 MB. As far as the Processor it uses the physical processor of the Host and the Processor on a Mac capable of running Fusion is so much more advanced then a PIII 1Ghz it not even a spec you need to verify.

I have an LG DVD burner (GSA-H55L). It's an internal drive, but connected to my MacBook Pro with an IDE/SATA-USB adapter. It works fine inside my XP VM using the included software, LightScribe included.

I've also used it for ripping and (I think) burning CDs/DVDs in OS X, no special drivers needed.

I don't know what the internals of the GE20LU10 are like, but if you run into any issues, it could be related to the drive's USB interface (not all USB chip sets are created equal) rather than the drive itself. Transferring the drive to a different enclosure (SATA, I'm assuming) or using an adapter like mine could help.
