I am evaluating VMWare on a pilot basis with a standalone server. It is working well now and I intend to use VMWare with Dell Servers & Dell EqualLogic SAN. Has anyone implemented this kind of setup already? I want know your feed back. I really appreciate if i can talk to you over phone.

Thank you,

Ram

I am running Dell servers for the hosts and have an HP MSA1510i and EMC CX3-40c iSCSI SANS in play for my environment.

We're in the process of Implementing VMWare on HP Servers with a pair of Dell EqualLogic PS5000E (one is local, one is remote).

The one challange we're facing is replicating data between the two EqualLogics over the 3Mb of bandwidth we have available. Even with minimal data changes (Our Domain Controller for instance), the Volumes are trying to replicate a minimum of 1 to 2 GB of data. Seems excessive to us. Right now we're trying to move the swap files out of the default VM folder to minimize the amount of changes that should need to be replicated.

We have both Windows and Linux (Fedora Core 10) VMs running on our hosts.

Good point on the DCs. We've gotten so stuck on this replication, we're not looking outside of that box for solutions.

For Replication, we're not as concerned about individual files as we are the system as a whole. A DR type recovery. I guess I'm curious if seperating out our data from .vmdk would make the replication more efficient.
