Disk failure notifications?

Hi,

During the weekend I've successfully installed VMware ESXi on a PRIMERGY RX100S4 with the external RAID-controller Adaptec 3405. I now have a question: is there any way to view the status of the physical disks? Will I get a alarm somehow if a disk fails?

Thanks

You can see your hardware's health in the "Configuration" tab

If you want to set alerts, you can try to set-up SNMP traps or use my check script : http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-7170

Thank you for your answer.

Yes, I can see hardware status there, but I can't see my physical disks. Check the following screenshots to see how it looks at my installation:

What should I set alerts on here? I can't see anything that corresponds to the physical disks?

ESXi does not have the necessary CIM provider to monitor Adaptec controllers so you won't be able to see the health status for those.

Ouch.

Why is the controller on the I/O compatibility list when ESXi can't monitor it's health? How do I get around this?

Thanks for answering!
