ESXi 3.5 - Opening console in Virtual Infrastructure hangs

I created a new server using ESXi 3.5 and created a VM of Server 2003. All was fine.

I have tried to create another VM (while the other VM is stopped) of XP. But as soon as I start the VM and click on console so I can effect the boot process the VI client hangs for over 30 seconds and by the time it opens Windows is already past the F6 key, etc.

What could be going on?

thanks.

Hello,

Moved to VI: Virtual Machine and Guest OS forum.

Once you get past this apparent hang, do a 'reset' of the VM and you should be able to get to the bios.

You are correct, I can reset and eventually do what I need; but great patience and waste of time is required.

Every time I want to go into the console this happens, and it didn't use to.

Same thing happens if I connect a client floppy or DVD, 30 - 60 second "hang".

Can I get it to work correctly again ?

thanks.
