Unable to Install SLES 9 SP4 on ESX 3.5 Update 1 posted: Nov 6, 2008 9:34 AM

Hi,

I am trying to install SLES 9 SP4 in the ESX server and I am following the installation document. I get to the point where i can enter textmode=1 as the boot option and the next screen does not give me any other option and continues with the installation and fails saying it cannot find the CD. I have also changed the boot order in the BIOS woth CDROM as the first one. No matter what I do, i cannot get the installation to find the CD. Has anyone been through this issue?

The SLES installation actually had asked for the SUSE core OS install CD od SLES 9 instead of SLES 9 SP4. The language of the message was not correct.

Start the installation with SLES 9 SP 4 CD # 1 ...once prompted with message with "Make sure that CD number 1 is in your drive'" change the CD to SLES 9 RC5 CD # 1 and rest to follow.
