Ok I have a windows 2003 server as my host and windows xp pro guest on Workstation 6. I'm trying to join the VM guest to the domain of the host but it keeps saying that it can't find the domain controller. I think I've found the root of the problem which is that the 2003 server can ping the VM and it gets a response but when you try to ping the server from the VM there's no reply which is most likely why the domain controller cannot be found. However, I cannot figure out why the guest cannot ping the server. The guest VM is on a WORKGROUP while the server is on it's on domain controller but I'm pinging the server by its computer name so that shouldn't be a reason why it won't communicate. I double checked the IP settings and they're both on the same network/gateway and subnet and there should be no reason why the guest cannot see the server.

Can someone please help me? I'd really appreciate it...I've been pulling my hair out over this issue.
