I have a spare x3650 and i wanted to test esx3i (installable version) but the HCL says it's not supported.

Not much interested in support at the time, just wanted to try it. Anyone knows if it will correctly install?

Thank you in advance for you support.

Welcome to the VMware Community forums. With the x3650 you have a pretty good chance of everything working OK. The main issues with non-supported hardware is the storage controller and NIC and with the x3650 you should be OK.

Unfortunately once a comment is marked no change can be made.

I am pretty certain that the 3650 will run ESX, from memory the NICs are broadcomm based, and the Controller is the Optional zero channel SAS RAID-5 or -6 via ServeRAID-8k adapter

We have a couple 3650's and they run the ServeRAID-8k adapters

I did just as Mike said, and it worked... same IBM 3650 server. As soon as I swapped processors sockets, it worked, ESXi 3 installed.

Have you tried changing the MPS bios setting, is it set at MPS1.4 or 1.1?
