Is there a way to schedule converter to create a VM of my DC on an ESXi box? (no VC)

I'm not sure if this is more of a Converter issue or an ESXi issue so I'm posting it to both forums.

I have my SBS 2003 server running alongside an ESXi box. I want converter to run on a clock so that there would

be a frequently updated VM duplicate of my physical SBS server ready to go in case of a disaster.

I can create them manually but I want it to run every night like a backup.

Is there anything I can do to pull this off?

Thanks!

Hello,

Enterprise converter does allow for scheduled conversions but the free one does not have this feature.

You could VM the SBS server and then clone it to another ESXi server using scheduled events.

Thanks for the quick response!

I'm currently running the Enterprise version (eval license) but I don't see how I can set a schedule.

Please advise.

Hello TTC-Seth,

The scheduled conversions are done through VirtualCenter with the Converter Plugin Enabled. More information can be found at the following Yellow-Bricks post . For those that do not have enterprise converter or do not have VirtualCenter, I wrote an article a few months ago on scripting VMware Converter to do a scheduled conversion . I gave both powershell and vbscript using the converter command line utility.

I hope this helps.

Right mouse on an ESX host -> import machine and when you get to schedule here is what you get.

I have vCentre server and also have the VMware Converter installed on this server. When I try and create a scheduled task I do not see the options like the screen shot attached to this thread.

I only get to schedule an import as a one off job and can not have this running on a schedule (daily, weekly, hourly etc)

Does anyone know where I can get the advanced scheduler shown in the thread.

Thanks in advance
