I am using Fusion 2.0 on a MacBook Pro 2.4ghz w/4gb RAM.

When rebooting a Windows 2003 guest OS, the vm will hang at the 'bios' screen.

The only way to resume is to select Virtual Machine>Restart Guest.

Anyone else seeing this?

There have been a few other reports of something similar, though it's too early to say if they're the same. Can you post vmware.log after seeing this behavior?

I cleared out the vmware.log and then did a clean boot (successfully). Once Windows XP Home SP3 loaded, went to "Start -> Shutdown -> Reboot" and then the Fusion froze on the bios screen (see Picture 2.png) during the bootup.

Also attached my vmx file. Please let me know if I can provide any further information to help resolve this issue.

Can confirm this bug still exists in version 2.0.1. Let me know if you need logs.

This can happen if you are and the guest is not using a multiprocessor HAL (so disables the second virtual processor). The problem is that Windows does such a good job disabling it that we can't bring it back on guest reboot. The solution is to use the correct HAL for your setup.

Updated the VM to only use 1 processor and it fixed the problem! Thank you!

Thanks worked for me.

What is the easiest way to update the HAL in Windows XP Sp3?
