Installing XP on virtual machine

I am using ESX 3.5 and VC 2.5 and am trying to install windows XP on a virtual machine.  I know the XP CD does not have the SCSI LSI driver so we have .flp file, which I have attached.  I got the .flp file from another post message in this forum.  So i have followed the below steps:

Created VM Guest, chose XP Professional as the Guest type and when creating the Disk selected LSI as the driver type

Once conplete  Edited settings and highlighed the Floppy Drive and selected the FLP image on the shared storage

check connected

did the same for the XP CDROM

powered on the VM guest, Click in the machine console windows and clickedSX key, this activates the Boot order menu confirm that CDRom is first boot device.

once the Blue installation process has commenced clicked 6. to inform the installation routine that need to install a none standard Disk controller.

Once I choose the disk I get the following error message:

The file txtsetup.oem could not be found.  Press any key to continue.

Does anyone have any solutions to this, or what I Can do to get rid of this message and install XP on the virtual machine.

Re: Installing XP on virtual machine

when you created the XP guest, did you do a custom setup and choose LSI as the driver?  You could also try using BusLogic initially and then changing it to LSI if you'd like.  By default if you use the typical deployment BusLogic will be chosen.

Re: Installing XP on virtual machine

You MUST configure

scsi0.virtualDev = "buslogic"

if you plan to use the vmscsi.flp

Re: Installing XP on virtual machine

How are you connecting the virtual floppy. This message is saying it cannot see the file on A:

I would investigate if the vfloppy is working correctly.

Re: Installing XP on virtual machine

I see a potential issue with the CD and Floppy redirection your are using.

Change your CD and floppy as shown.

Then in your VM Console windows click on the Connect floppy 1 button and chose select floppy image and use the local PC as a file provider.
