Hi

This is my home server that runs great on ESX 3.5, ESX 3.5u1 and ESX 3.5u2

Cpu: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40 GHz, 1066 MHz, 8 MB , Boxed
Mainboard: Asus P5M2/SAS (Demomodel)
Memory: Mushkin DDR2 EM2-4200 Dual Channel 4096 MB, PC4200, 533 MHz, 4, Kit Of 2
HDD: 2x Samsung SpinPoint T133 400 GB, 7200 Rpm, 16 MB, S-ATA II/300

Floppy: NEC 3,5 Inch Diskette Station
Casing: Sharkoon Revenge Value Edition
Power: Antec Earthwatts 430 Watt , 20+24 Pins, 80 Plus Rating
DVD: LG DVD Rom GDR-H30N 16 X, 52 X, IDE, OEM

Extra info: The internal raid controller on the mainboard is invissible to ESX. So you can't create Raid configurations.

Extra info: I was told that a SATA dvd wouldnt work during install, so I chose IDE. Not sure if this is still valid after ESX3.5u2

Why would a SATA DVD drive not work? If the ICH controller is in ATA mode, which it has to be to install ESX anyway, it should be seen as a simple ATA device by the BIOS.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Gabrie,

Are there ANY 775 motherboards that support MB RAID? I'm going down your path here and would sure like to keep my MB RAID that I was using on my non-VM machine.

Thanks

The driver with ESX / ESXi does not support RAID on the Intel ICH family of controllers. You would need to get something with an LSI controller that supports RAID.
