Silly Question: Where to run/install Converter?

This might be a silly question, but where should I install/run Converter? On the target physical machine or a remote machine? If it is on a remote machine, how do I hook up the target machine to the remote machine so the remote machine can see all the devices on the target machine? Is there a getting started document for Converter that would answer blindingly fundamental questions like these?

Thanks for your help.

normally you use VMware converter on your Administration Workstation. from there you controll the migrations.

you can also use the virtual center plugin. (there are two types of installables: VMware Converter Standalone or VMware Converter for VirtualCenter)

and also a good link for VMware Converter:

Thanks, dmaster. It looks like the Starter version can be run on the machine being converted or a remote machine, though I didn't try it on a remote machine.
