I couldn't find this bug documented anywhere, so there:

On VMware console, Linux (Debian/Ubuntu), the following steps cause the X modifier keys to simply deleted.

0. Run 'xmodmap' to see the list of X modifier keys

1. In VMware console focus on the guest OS (click it)

2. Hold Ctrl key down

3. Move the mouse outside the guest OS, into the host OS (Ctrl should be still down!)

4. Leave the Ctrl

5. Run 'xmodmap' again, and viola, no modifier keys

Is it an "open bug" in VMware team? Any other thread about it already?

I couldn't reproduce on CentOS, though I'm not sure what's different... (GTK version?)
