In the same spirit as the thread titled "VI3: Linux client," I'd like to propose a client for Mac OS X, too. At present, I need to VNC from my Mac laptop to a Windows workstation to then console into my VM's. (Needless to say, there's a decent amount of overhead!)
Thanks!
Chris
How did you get it to work? I found when i tried that, that the screens seemed to lock up, and i assumed it was because the system had no idea which vm (fusion vs esx vm) you were in and exiting.....
VMware should serioulsy listen to this. I am waiting to hear the annoncement on VMware View client for Mac OS X.
VMware should hear even small % of customers looking out for this option.
Time is running out for me.. i don't want to go with Citrix Xendesktop just because i can't get this feature on View , specially i_ like VMware View_ so much
I'm an avid user and recommender of VMWare... Most of my customers are DND and DOD agencies; and they seem to think I know what I'm talking about; Lack of MacOSX and Linux clients; ESPECIALLY lack of a Linux client in ESXi is hindering a great wedging opportunity for VMware; Entities want to move away from windows environments on desktops are seriously considering other alternatives to VMware because of the lack of support... It would be nice if they didn't have to do that. It would be nicer still if I didn't have to recommend against vmware because of that lack of support.
I would love native Mac clients for VMware - this includes the Server console and the VI client and proper support for Safari.
Seeing as Macs are significantly more useful in a Unix (and mixed Unix/Windows) environment than a Windows PC, myself and many others who work all day with Unix servers love these machines. VMware use Linux and support Linux servers and produce Fusion for the Mac, so why no native Mac clients? Go on VMware - please let me retire my old VAIO that runs all the VM management software!
i urge you(vmware) like many others to support os x for so we don't need 'fusion' just to access a vd or do simpler tasks. if you can support linux it should not be a problem.
