[HELP] "Error during the configuration of the host:unable to create filesystem" Error Message When Adding LUN

Hi all,

An error popped up when I added a LUN of 1.34TB to my ESX Server 3.5.0, 64507 via VI Client (without employing VC Server) when the ESX Server in Maintanance Mode, as screenshots (in appearance order) suggest below.

Any ideas on how can I turn it around?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a quadrillion!

Regards,

Bruce

Hi brucewong,

Try changing blocksize to 8MB(in screenshot 02.png) ,you should be able to create filesystem then.

Hi Santosh,

Could you please shed some light on why "Available" and "SAN Identifier" are both "None" and "Not Applicable" in screenshot 01?

Do you think it was that prevented me from adding LUN to my ESX Server host?

"Virtualization" regards,

brucewong

Hi Santosh,

Some guru at Experts-exchange.com told me that it probably that the LUN is being used by some other application, which is running in non-virualiztion environment, say, an Orable server on a physical server.

Yep like you said, the LUN is probably problematic and needs to be re-created.

Bruce
