I am using Fusion to run Windows XP and it is doing a pretty good job. The only problem was getting it to print from windows and that took weeks of work.

Now I would like to run Dragon's Naturally speaking from Fusion. Has anyone done this? How well did it perform? Any problems? Would it be better to run it from Boot Camp?

Thank you in advance for your replies, Richard

I'm not sure what problems you had setting up a printer however not including the actual time the software installation takes like for a All-in-One that has lots of software it has never taken me more than a few minutes to setup a printer in a case when it was just printer drivers being installed whether it was attached directly to the Virtual Machine or a shared printer on the Host or the Network. I just don't understand why it seems so may people have such a hard time setting up a printer on a Virtual Machine as it is basically no different then doing it on a physical computer. Obviously if one has never setup a printer ever before or if there is actually something wrong with the software, which I've seen before, I can see it taking a little longer but really the hardest part usually is unpacking a new printer and assembling the peices not actually installing it into the OS. :)

DNS definitely runs better natively directly on the hardware (Boot Camp partition) vs a Virtual Machine either of the Boot Camp partition or a normal Fusion Virtual Machine however it will run in a normal Virtual Machine and I'd run it that way vs a Virtual Machine of the Boot Camp partition. Virtual Machine's of the Boot Camp partition tend to be a bit slower then a normal Fusion Virtual Machine.

I'm using DNS 7.2 and I notice a distinct difference between using it in Boot Camp vs a normal Virtual Machine with Boot Camp being the better environment. When using it in Boot Camp the OS has access to the full amount of memory (SDRAM and VRAM) installed on my MBP as well as DNS having more memory available to work. I usually am dictating into MS Word 2003 although I use it to navigate various apps and Windows. The disadvantage to using it in Boot Camp is not having OS X to work in simultaneously and concurrently which is why I use it in both Boot Camp and a Fusion Virtual Machine. When I have a lot of DNS related work to do I boot to Boot Camp and when it just a bit here and there I use the Virtual Machine so I have access to OS X and DNS at the same time.

Yes you can run Windows and DNS on a Boot Camp Windows install without uninstalling Fusion. The bottom line is you can use both separate or together it works both ways. :)

Your welcome! BTW I'm using a Plantronics USB Headset and I can't tell you the model at the moment because it's in the office and I'm not. :)
