yes, i tried removing it and adding it again.

i did these things:

1) removing it and adding it (ethernet controller)

2) i booted into the recovery mode, checked with dmesg | grep 'eth' to see if there was a networkcard installed and it was
there i also saw an eth1 (tho there is only 1 card configured in the vm settings)
then i tried to bring the card up: ifconfig eth0 up but then it told me that there is no such device
i checked for conflicts (i believe with: cat /proc/net/dev (cant remember cuz it was last night and i am at work now)) but everything was filled with 0 which according to the page i used is a good thing
3) tried using vmware converter to import and convert the 5.x image to a 6.x image, same problem but now also the iso file couldnt be found
4) tried using the vmware server image but no luck there either

Hello!

Is the "VMware server 1.0 version " available somewhere? http://virtualappliances.eu/DLappliance-VS.zip is "404 compatible", so to say ;)

Or does the "Regular Download v1.01 " work with VMware Server 1.04 on Linux?

BTW: If you're short on space/bandwith, how about hosting stuff on S3 from Amazon ? This way, you'd also have Torrents available directly.

Cheers,

Alexander

brugh, congratulations! Your appliance is working very well. Indeed, the smbfs was missing and finaly I figured out, that the hellanzb is not started at boot time nor by access through the browser. But after adding an entry in /etc/rc2.d everything looks fine.

I replaced eth0 with eth1 and removed the double entry in the file....

When I do the restart it tells me:

DHCPRELEASE on eth1 to 192.168.1.254 port 67
Send_packet: Network unreachable
Send_packet: please consult README file regarding broadcast address.
There is already a pid file /var/run/dhclient.eth1.pid with pid
134519120
..
..
..
Listening on LPF/eth1/00:.....
Sending on LPF/eth1/00:.....

DHCPDISCOVER on eth1 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 6
DHCPDISCOVER on eth1 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 12
DHCPDISCOVER on eth1 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 13
No DHCPOFFERS received
No working leases in persistent database - sleeping.

(im sure dchp works since other (linux) vm's do get an IP)

I tried doing this:
Ifconfig eth1 192.168.100.149 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast
192.168.100.255

Also without the broadcast part....

I then pinged itself, and it works....
Then I ping a live host but I get destination unreachable....

So I did this:
Route add default gw 192.168.100.248

That doesn't work either
I just cant ping outside the networkcard....

(I love learning like this about linux)

Hi

I took a whole new approach.....
I removed the networkcard from the virtual machine.
Then I edited the vmx file and removed everything there that had to do
with Ethernet0 except for the line that it said present = false

I reboot into recovery mode and I received an DHCP address...... (and
remembered it, tho it was on eth1 not eth0)
Then I rebooted again to start the application.
The application starts fine but I don't see a correct URL displayed, it
only tells connect to "http://_"
I just punched in the ip that I remembered from recovery mode and it
works to configure......

thnx

Hello!

looks like a great appliance that you have here but could you upload it somewhere that we can download and try it?

I've been trying the link you provided but the domain is disabled!

rapidshare.com , megaupload.com , ... plenty of choice ;)

Thank you!
