Hello all,
Parallels convert here. When I was demoing Fusion, it had a "vmware virtualprinter" that past content to my osx connected printer. It worked great and was one of the features that helped me convert. I purchased and then used the parallels converter to move into Fusion permanently. Now, however, the virtual printer function no longer exists. Additionally, every time I connect my USB printer (HPL7780) XP "finds new hardware" and installs an additional driver; I now have eight printers to choose from. I'd really like to get the virtual printer feature back, but can't find the option in tools, prefs, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you trying to setup the HPL7780 in Windows as an attached printer or do you want to use it as a shared printer from OS X? If the former than to not connect the printer to the VM through the VMware Fusion > Virtual Machine > USB menu or the USB icons on the Status bar. If the latter either do not plug it in to the Host while the Guest has Focus or turn the printer on while the Guest has Focus. If the Guest has Focus it's going to grab it and try to install it!

If you want to share the OS X shared printer resource with the Windows VM then install and properly share the printer in OS X and then use Bonjour for Windows from Apple to setup the printer in the Windows VM. However first delete all occurrences of the HPL7780 that exist in Windows under Printer and Faxes from Control Panel and reboot the Virtual Machine before proceeding with Bonjour for Windows
