It crashes into BSOD several times a day. I'm not sure what information to provide. It just crashes. Nothing interesting in Windows logs, nothing interesting in fusion logs. I saw messages about SCSI operation took seconds (ok) so i've created IDE VM. It didn't help. I'm running Leopard 10.5.1 on iMac Core Duo 2GHz, 2Gb. It seem that more workload on Mac OSX side increases the probability of crash. I'm currently evaluating Fusion and it seems great in processor usage etc, but very unstable. Unfortunately, instability was the exact reason I started to search the replacement for Parallels.

To add to what etung asked... If when your getting this BSOD and if it's causing a immediate reboot you can stop the automatic reboot by...

Start > Settings > Control Panel (Switch to Classic View) > System > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery frame > Settings button > System failure frame > deselect Automatically restart

Note: This will require a reboot for changer to take effect.

This way you will be able to get the STOP Code and Description.

You can also analyze past BSODs by inspecting the minidumps the system takes when they occur by looking in the C:\Windows\Minidump directory. The tools you would need to download to read these crash files are documented in a Microsoft KB at How to read the small memory dump files that Windows creates for debugging

I can tell you I've seen IRQ_Less_or_equal sometimes when the host is under IO duress on all classes of hardware from workstations to high-end servers. It's also one of the more nebulous BSODs to debug. Can you give me an idea of what you're doing on the OS X that may cause this?

I'm wondering if the Data Execution Prevention mechanism is doing this, as trying to execute data. Possibly SmallTalk is doing this. Could try disabling DEP for your development tools.

1. Click Start
2. Select Control Panel
3. Select System
4. Click the Advanced tab
5. In the Performance region select Settings
6. Click the Data Execute tab in the dialog box that opens
7. Select Turn on DEP for all programs and services except for those I select
8. Click Add.
9. The open dialog box will open. Browse and select your application. 10. Click Open
11. Click Apply
12. Click Ok
13. Reboot

If Upgrade Virtual Machine is available in the Virtual Machine menu I would try that, the hw version at 1 is suspicious.

Also how much RAM have you allocated to Windows XP? You can check in Virtual Machines > Settings > Memory. Stressing XP would make it unstable just like stressing OS X (e.g. beachball) would.

If this is a 32-bit WIndows you can also add /NOEXECUTE=ALWAYSOFF to the boot.ini file. One other thing, when looking at the bugcheck, sometimes USB devices can cause stack faults in the USB driver and hence the kernel errors. Do you have any strange USB devices attached to the Mac, and have you the USB 2 and auto-connect options on.

The invalid hardware error message I have seen before as well when running Fusion in debug mode. I think it may be a spurious message, but follow Rob's advice and check the Upgrade Hardware menu item in Fusion.

Maybe worth posting the VMX file here.

Hi

I think I would run a memoiry soak test on the host Mac. It does now sound like a physical memory issue to me. One option is here http://www.memtestosx.org/ which I haven't used before, but a few blogs recommended it.
