I'm finalizing details for a DC Metro Area (Northern VA, DC, Southern MD) VMUG meeting in late January. Sponsorship, venue and other details will be announced shortly.

In the meantime, I'd like to officially request anyone that is interested in speaking to please reply to this thread, contact me via my site (www.SystemsArchiTECH.com), or send me a private message via this forum. I'm open to all topics such as security, pitfalls encountered, unique solutions, favorite third-party app, et cetera.

I'd also like to start our work in progress agenda. I'm thinking:

Pre-Meeting - Perhaps a small primer for those brand new to virtualization. I had this requested by a few people last time and may be worthwhile to those new to the concept of virtualization.

Introductions - Who am I, who the sponsors are and a tease for the upcoming topics.

VDI 2 - Anyone participating in the VDI2 Beta? Give the user group your feedback!

Technical Topic #1 - You decide. Speakers welcome!

Sponsor demonstration. Prepare for ooh's and ahh's.

Technical Topic #2 - You decide. Speakers welcome!

Q&A.

Wrap-Up.

I'm open to suggestions for technical content, either very advanced or more intermediate discussions. I'm also thinking about putting up a performance matrix to compare and contrast environments and perhaps find ways to make performance tweaks.

So I had to submit a proposed agenda today to our soon-to-be-announced sponsor.

Here it is:

Proposed Agenda:

Appetizers

INTRODUCTION.

An introduction to first-time attendees. A recap of virtualization events since the last meeting.

FREE iSCSI.

A step-by-step guide to setting up an iSCSI appliance at home or in the lab.

SPONSOR.

A presentation by sponsor discussing their products and services.

GUEST SPEAKER.

I could really use someone volunteering for this - speak about your environment, your design, your pitfalls, et cetera.

WRAP-UP.

Open Q&A. Networking. Give-aways.
