I set up the built-in VNC server on my copy of Fusion 1.1rc1, but when I try to connect to it via the Finder at < vnc://localhost:port/ >, Fusion throws out a NOT_IMPLEMENTED unrecoverable error (for bora/lib/raster/rasterConv.c:491) and the virtual machine goes down.

I'm using Mac OS X 10.5, with a Boot Camp partition with Windows XP service pack 2, on a 20" Core 2 Duo iMac.

I've attached an example error log.

That's interesting. You should open up a support case. Does the VM crash? How do you set up the built-in VNC server? Details?

The log doesn't seem to be attached, can you try again? vmware.log, not vmware-vmfusion.log, is likely to be the interesting one.

uslacker99, I presume Nexuapex followed the directions in A Power User's Guide to VMware Fusion.

Thanks for the log. What are you using to connect to the VM, and did you make any changes to that program's default settings? I finally got Leopard installed and VNC is working fine for me (with Chicken of the VNC as a client).

Are you doing this from a different Mac? Screen Sharing refuses to connect to localhost for me. Also, you might see if CotVNC (or other VNC client) works for you - the crash is because of an unexpected color space mapping, and other clients might not trigger it.

OK, changing the port was key, I can reproduce it now and have filed a bug. For now, use a different client.

Hi Guys,

Looks like this issue might be a little stale, but I'm seeing the same thing with VMWare Fusion 1.1.1 and Windows XP. Curious what workaround or solution you've found for the problem. I'm hoping to connect to a VM from another MAC in the house with Leopard screen sharing and get the same VM Ware errors that completely crash out my VM. Any help is appreciated!
