It would be nice if I could find a definitive answer to a question: does VMWare Server v1.04 support a SATA DVD drive?
I can't be the only one to have this problem, but maybe I am.
New SATA interface DVD RW drives are readily available and very inexpensive. So far, I can find no reference to SATA DVDs in any VMW documentation or forums.
Guidence would be appreciated.
AH, I was not clear enough in my querry. I was able to use SATA DVD for install on VMW Server v 1.04 on my Server 2003 EE server. Guest OS was the same.
However, after install, I can only get access to my legacy ATA DVD drive.
SO, I was wondering if anyone else has worked around this problem? I can do reads on this drive if I Share it and map the drive. But, applications (NERO, etc) will not work from a shared drive.
My SATA DVD RW is a LiteOn. (works great on Host OS)
I don't know. I think I used the default.
And, I have no idea of how to change it. Can it be changed after install of server? Can you give me a hint on where to look?
