Hi guys,

I have created a test VM with all default options.
1 CPU , 256MB Ram , 4GB HD.
I made a ISO copy of Windows 2000 Advanced Server CD and loaded it into the CD/DVD Drive.
I am able to boot into the Windows Setup screen but once I tried to continue setup, it prompts me that Windows Setup cannot find a Hard-Disk installed into my VM.
I tried using my W2k3 iso image and Setup works fine.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Windows 2000 needs SCSI drivers added to the install process to recognize the virtual hard drive if you're using the LSI Logic virtual adapter.

http://www.vmware.com/support/reference/common/guest_win_scsidrv.html

If you switch the VM to use the BusLogic adapter, then the install CD will have the drivers.

There's a link here for the LSI driver

What virtual SCSI controller is configured in the VM?

The LSI card is a bit newer and better performing.

If you plan to create a W2K cluster you'll need to use the LSI drivers.

Shawn,

I am dying for a Windows 2000 Advanced server ISO. My company has a Volume licses agreement with MS. I have contacted them and they are looking for a copy of it but from what my rep said it does not look good. I am not trying to pirate anything. I need the original ISO in order to repair a corrupt os. The mouse and keyboard drivers are not working so the box is briked.

Please help if you can.

Tony
