I was very worried with my first time with a virtualized Lotus Domino, some guys here wrote of troubles with cpu and disk I/O issues.

Now I have some virtualized Domino Server aroud, and never had performance problems.

Some examples are :

2 Domino Server in the same Data Center (running on 2 x460, and a shared DS4300), all are single vCPU with 2GB, looking at resource usage from VC, cant see high resource usage.

Both servers manage 500 mailboxes each with 22000 email incoming from internet each day for every server, I do not have data for inside mail traffic. I know, this is not an huge mail system.

Usally there are 90% users active, One of the servers hosts also some big applications with some sheduled agents.

Servers are running Lotus Domino 6.5.4 and 7.0.2

Both servers was initially physical and was migrated (no p2v) in esx, no users realized this change.

I think it is important to say that most users have local replica of database (finally Lotus changed from database to Application in lotus domino 8) so there is few disk I/O.

The datacenter runs other 25 virtual machine, file servers, SQL, antispam and so on.

I am not so worried as before!
