But if you manually boot up your NIC does it work?

I mean:

If you write:

ifconfig eth0 (or your interface name) up

does it work?

You don't have an IP address 'cause your NIC is down.

Well to be sure, 'cause you're under RedHat the command should be:

ifcfg-eth0

post the output pls

And maybe you could be interested in a GUI:

redhat-config-network

let me know

So it seems your nic is up...

According to this link http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.3-Manual/custom-guide/s1-dhcp-configuring-client.html

Try to edit this file:

/etc/sysconfig/network

And be sure there is this line:

NETWORKING=yes

After that edit this file:

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth2

And be sure you have these lines:

DEVICE=eth2

BOOTPROTO=dhcp

ONBOOT=yes

Then save & reboot

let me know

Hi,

It is not work . the same result ..

The Lan card is not up and no IP when type ifconfig eth2 .....

I do not think genernal command can fix it ...

It may be driver problem in VMware .....

let's try the last thing, please run & post the output:

chkconfig --list

After that... I HAVE NO MORE IDEAS Smiley Sad I just wanna be sure your network service is up and running
