Win95: Cannot enable Networking and USB support

Hi,

I have followed the suggested paths for both during installation/post installation as well as Network Known Issues on pages 68/69 - http://www.vmware.com/pdf/GuestOS_guide.pdf

The Network Adapter continues to not be installed successfully. (see attached screenshot if it helps)

I have followed USB support documentation and USB flash drive continues to not be recognized or not load.(see attached screenshot if it helps)

I have rebuilt the VM quite a few times in the exercise of vetting each suggestion in the Guide

Please, please, please - if you have any suggestion on how I can get Networking enabled and USB support enabled on Win95 I would so much appreciate it.

(I have used both Player 2.02 and Workstation 6.02 to perform the steps, screenshot just happens to be in player, running on Compaq dc7600 host)

Thanks.

Network: Have you downloaded the drivers from AMD's website for the PCNet Lance card?

USB: Are you certain you are using Win95 OSR 2 or newer, not the original Win95?

The only location I found from a previous post you replied to http://communities.vmware.com/thread/85619 took me to http://www.amd.com/us-en/ConnectivitySolutions/ProductInformation/0,,50_2330_6629_2452%5E2454%5E2486... and specifically which doesn't say PCNet Lance anywhere. I downloaded it this morning (11/26) and first tried running the executable pcnet9x.exe at which I got a blue screen. I then tried adding it through Add/Remove Hardware and it gave me the error "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware" (netamd_Accton_Error.gif attachment) Is there a different driver somewhere actually titled PCNet Lance? Can you give me a link?

I burned the ISO myself, is B with usb support (Win95b.gif attachment)

Actually get a USB error when starting in Workstation vs Player but device failures are the same in Workstation. (USBerror.gif attachment)

Any other suggestions for either LAN or USB? I'm still struggling unsuccessfully...

VMware Workstation 6.0.2 is kind of old. Consider upgrading to at least 6.0.5, or better yet 6.5.1 (all are free upgrades for registered users).

Have you already installed the VMware Tools inside the Guest?

Please post the .vmx file as well as the vmware.log file from your Guest's folder.

It looks like (from all the drivers I have downloaded/saved) that Win95 needs the NDIS3 version, not the NDIS4 one. File I have is "win95_mac3.exe".
