vmware player Network Adapters killing Windows Server 2008?

I'm trying to install vmware player (v. 3.0.0 build-203739) onto a system running Windows Server 2008 (just need to run a virtual Bugzilla appliance). Player installs with no problems, but as soon as it enables the virtual network adapters, the server completely falls off the network. Remote Desktop dies, I can't ping it, nothing -- host is gone. When I disable the vmware network adapters, everything works fine.

Works fine on my workstation (Win 7), and I've had no problems using player previously. Any suggestions or thoughts as to why the virtual net adapters would cause these problems?

Edit: For clarity, this is a problem with Player breaking the HOST's networking. Haven't yet tried installing a guest OS.

I'm having the same issue. Server 2008 32bit. Installed latest version of VMPlayer and it's killing my hosts network connection. If i disable the VMNics it comes back instantly.
