Drive encryption error after install

Hi,

I installed vmware player yesterday and after installation it asked me to restart my pc. On restart I get the usual preboot credentials check (finger swipe or password) but it fails to go ahead and boot. I get an (unknown) error from the Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools, this error is distinct from the one received when the password is entered incorrectly so I know it is not due to the password.. same applies to the fingerprint check. I notice now however that there is an extra user __vmware_user__ too which presumably vmware has added to my system.

Does a vmware install do some modifications to the preboot sector of the hard drive? If so is there any way to reverse this? Currently my machine is inaccessible and HP support are not having much luck.

Regards,

Marcus
