I used to have a Windows (XP) guest with an installation of the VI-Client and use rdp to connect from linux to this XP to the ESX host.
Even more fun would be to use 2x application server for windows terminal services to export the VIC application to a linux desktop (You get 5 free connections for 2x). I might try this for fun.
I am familiar with Citrix XenApp / CPS, but I never heard of 2x... had a look at their website and might try that too for fun.
But in the OP case, setting up a TS would be slightly overkill
Had to feed the baby and decided to set this up. You do not need to configure TS per se. Just enable RDP and the 2 connections you get in admin mode are available.
I had to use older client version
It worked like a champ from my Centos desktop. So you can squeeze 2 "Linux" VIC clients out for each windows (2003, I have not tried XP, but it should work) VM
