Recover virtual storage that was temporarily assigned to a VM

I am trying to recover some space (300GB) that I had temporarily assigned to a VM. I removed the resource from the VM but the space does not show up in my total free space in my datastore. Is there a set of commands I can use to see where the space is and how do I get it back into the free space available on the datastore.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

did you assign a new temp disk to the vm ? If yes then did you delete the disk or removed it from the VM

please let me know if this is not the case

Yes this is the case. I had it assigned for a little while and then I deleted it from the VM.

try running vdf -h from the command line and check for the available space of the datastore

Also putty to the host and drill down to the datastore do ls -ltrh and check the files and their sizes >>> check if that temp drive is seen here

I was able to find the solution by browsing the datastore and selecting the VM. In the list the virtual storage was still listed. I was able to delete it from here and then a Rescan on the storage showed the space as available again.
