ESXi 4, NFS and NAS running Windows 2008 Storage server

I have sucessfully attached the NAS as adatastore, but can only provion drives as thicl.  I have tried creating and converting to thin, creating as thin, and using the standalone converter to make the drives thin.  Is there a limitation suing Windows Torage server 2008 and provisiong vmdk files as thin?
