yorkie's Latest Content

Busy busy busy!

The VI:OPS pilot site - http://vpp-dev-1.vmware.com/ - has gone through another revision. Here's the latest changes:

  • Updated look and feel - better header graphic, bold statement of VI:OPS, better homepage
  • Simplified structure - instead of the EATS structure, we now have five simple zones - Strategy, Standards, Security, Management, Automation.
  • Community leaders appointed - Bob is Strategy, WInston is Standards, Charu is Security, Desmond is Management, and Stephane is Automation.
  • Chris Hoff is now a member - the venerable "security weenie" as he calls himself, is an advocat of improving security operations.
  • Broken the 500 visitors mark - not bad for a not-yet-promoted website with a dodgy url (vpp-dev-1). Can't wait till the launch plan starts kicking in...

There's also some new content...

  • VMware Super Measures - trying to work out the best, core metrics to measure virtualization (or any other IT!) with.
  • VMware STIG - the DISA/DOD security doc - very popular!
  • Proven Practices Explained - our thoughts on proven vs. best, trying to get more practices for each problem rather than fruitlessly trying to find "the one" (best) answer.

There are a multitude of next steps, including receiving new proven practices from VMware staff, partners and customers, as well as integration with the rest of the communities (url change, single-sign on, etc).

Do you have a proven practice you want to share? Do you need a proven practice - ask!

Visit the site, get involved! http://vpp-dev-1.vmware.com/

Cheers

Hungry for information about how to justify, architect, build and manage your virtual infrastructure?

http://vpp-dev-1.vmware.com/

It's a proof of concept, a pilot, a start, and we need people who understand to be involved - is that you?

Cheers
