Or perhaps 62-bit...

Everyone seems a bit or two short today. So goes the day after VMworld Party 08 out at Las Vegas Speedway. I should have capped a pic of the dude sleeping on the floor in my last session. Someone had to kick his foot to break his slumber. At least he wasn't snoring... that would have been only slightly less rude than all the folks that continue to leave ringers on full blast and answer calls mid-session. I have other gripes that I'll just ignore for now, as I don't want to take away from how great the conference has been otherwise.

Oh screw it... FYI sessions will be online post-conference... THERE'S NO NEED TO TAKE A PIC OF ALL SLIDE DECKS. Argh!

Did you stay "virtually sober" at VMworld? Post a comment and let us know!

I feel so hip now... podcasting (second time this VMworld).

Here's a pic from today... John Troyer (VMware), Moderator; myself, Jase McCarty, and Steve Beaver. (all beavis & butthead commentary was prior to recording, for your own sanity) Once the cast is up, I'll link it in here. Thanks for the invite in John.

Sean Clark of http://www.vmunderground.com/ clued me into a post by Rich Brambley on vmware's linux strategy: http://vmetc.com/2008/09/17/linux-strategy-and-roadmap-ta3201/

While he mentions LDAP was covered, there's no timeframes provided (of course). There's some other great info in there (and on vmetc & vmunderground in general) so check em out when you get a chance.

I spoke with a vmware engineer and like most product releases, features will come in stages. Open LDAP integration sounds like one of those features that will appear in a future (i.e. not initial) release of the linux port. That's unfortunate if that's the case... at least everyone will have their linux viclient! :P
