I think we all hear the term cloud loosely used these days. Cloud this and cloud that. I find myself wondering, can I buy a cloud? How do I use it and what will it do?
At this point, we probably all know that a cloud is the mere concept that allows for further compute abstraction; data center abstraction in this case. The concept of providing computing across datacenters or even relying on hosting providers is very intriguing... While it is certainly fun to laugh about floating in clouds, I think that this is without question the evolution of virtualization and am glad to see the progress VMware is making.
The question here though that has not been answered, at least in my mind, is the obvious one; is this achievable? I am concerned about the logistics behind making something like this work in the "real-world". What do you think? Will this work? What issues will we see? Where will the biggest successes be?
