I use boot camp to play the sims 2 and all of their expansion packs, and was wondering if VMware Fusion would let me play the sims 2 and not be slow or anything, I think it would work but I don't know.

I don't think it works with Fusion however a search of the forum would be in order. Search for sims 2 returned 7 results.

in order to Run Sims 2 game in Guest OS, the requirement is Supported video cards (ATI Radeon(TM) series 8500 or better (9600 or greater required for Vista) and 32 MB Video Ram

VMware Fusion uses minimal virtual graphics card SVGA II for Display Adapter in Guest OS. Even if the underlying display adapter is ATI Radeon graphics it will be recognized by Fusion Guest OS as SVGA.

Hence there is no option to change the graphic settings in Fusion display setting

Please visit Sims 2 website for minimum system requirements to run Sims 2 games

Better play in Native Bootcamp partition

The main issue that I've heard with the Sims 2 is the SecuROM 7 copy protection on some versions, which currently causes the game to not run in Fusion. If you have a version that does run, there are some reports of minor (but annoying) texture problems. As Woody said, search the forums.

kristein:
While it's true that we always show a SVGA II display adapter to the guest, this is only indirectly important. It doesn't necessarily mean that users won't be able to run a game.

It does mean that drivers for the native hardware aren't useful in the guest (explained in more detail in Frequently Asked Questions about VMware Fusion). It's also significant for games which explicitly whitelist particular video cards. Although games list requirements as "You need nVidia XYZ or ATi UVW or later", most check for reported capability and don't actually whitelist (otherwise they wouldn't work with video cards released after the game came out).
