Why doesn't Activesync work in VMWare Fusion?
I also own Parallels, which I abandoned in favor of VMWare Fusion. Activesync does not work in Parallels either.
But, Activesync works fine in Bootcamp and even Microsoft's old Virtual PC. If Microsoft was able to get Activesync to operate fine in their PC emulation software for the Mac, why can't VMWare? What is the difference and the reason?
Are they working on it? If so, does anyone know when it will be ready?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
Interesting.
I've used ActiveSync successfully in VPC7, Boot Camp, and Fusion 1.1.2 and 2beta.
What part doesn't work for you?
yes, interesting indeed! what version of activesync? what exactly is not working?
i'm using fusion 1.1.2 and winxp sp3 and activesync 3.7.1 (because it still supports sync over wifi) works fine.
I am running Leopard 10.5.3, Fusion 1.1.2, Windows XP SP2, ActiveSync 4.5.0 with a Pocket PC 2003 SE device, and ActiveSync works fine with USB connection. Have tried network sync, but would expect it to work with VM in bridged mode.
What isn't working?
I too have been using ActiveSynch successfully, in my case since the very first beta (pre-release) version of Fusion. At the moment I am on still Fusion 1.0 as none of the subsequent release has address offered any response / fixed to the broken / perfornmance issues with Shared Folders.
Chris
I have just installed VMWare Fusion (latest, not beta) and XP Pro with the latest Activesync and everything works great for me. I have a blackjack II and I sync it via bluetooth. What type of errors are you getting?
AS 4.5 works for me up to a point. My Q9c will typically only remain connected for ~ < 30 minutes, then I will hear the USB disconnected alert from both the phone and from the guest VM. The only way to reestablish a connection is to reboot the VM. Half of the time, the phone will report that it cannot charge over USB, but the status icon shows that it's charging. Annoying indeed. Oh -- 1st gen. MacBook, XP Pro w/SP3.
