I have several printers. Some connect via USB to the VM, and others connect via Airport using NAT. The one problem printer I've had is the HP 1020 - which is not compatible with the Mac. It was working, but would sometimes get weird and I'd have to go through a ritual of disconnecting, reconnecting, suspending, resuming, rebooting the VM, powering the printer on and off, canceling jobs et.. and even changing the order of doing these things. At this point, under Leopard, it won't connect at all - is always shown as Offline. I can still boot up from Tiger and use it - which I have to when I want to create blank checks.
In looking at the printer settings for my VersaCheck Virtual Printer (which I connected to a Cannon iP90v where previously it was linked to the HP 1020), I was noting the following in the Printer > Properties > Ports (tab):
A. The Port for the Versacheck Virtual Printer is a named as
"Virtual printer port for USB".
B. The port itself is USB004.
C. The printer for this port is listed as
"VersaCheck Printer".
D. There are also Virtual-printer-port-for-USB's listed for the 2015, 460, iP90, 2600n
E. I don't see a Virtual-printer-port-for-USB for the 1020 - So is there anyway to manually create one?
I can see where different ports can be created, but not for one that is Virtual-printer-port-for-USB.
Could I just try and give the 1020 one of the ports created for say, the 2015 (which I don't own any more)?
Or will this give the 1020 the wrong driver?
