I have a ESX 3.5 host with multiple VMs running on it. When i tried mounting a local vmdk file on a guest windows OS using vmware-mount.exe, i succeeded. For a remote vmdk (from guest Windows OS to a vmdk file on the ESX ) the same thing failed with the message stating "Unable to get a VIM ticket for this virtual disk". Please help as google is not giving relevant results for this message.

What is your intent here? If you want to move the disk of vm3 to vm2, then you can remove the disk from vm3, make sure to not delete the files, and then add the disk to vm2 as an existing disk. This will provide that disk mounted on the new vm.
