hello all

I installed Vi client 2.5 on a Windows XP SP2 Pro computer (all updates applied).

When I logon to the Vi client, I am able to see all of my machines however when I select a machine > then attempt to go into the Console tab, the Vi client crashes immediately.

Any ideas how to fix this? I uninstalled/reinstalled. We have ESX 3.5 (the 2-28-08 build)

Have you a firewall ?

Test : restart : /etc/init.d/vmware-vpxa restart

For trouble shooting you may try with the firewall desable

Check there for error message : C:\WINDOWS\pfirewall.log

It's the 903 that is used between VI Client and remote console.

Hi François,

According to this : http://communities.vmware.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/2500-1-4915/VI3.5%20ports.jpg

VC talks only with the 443 since 3.5

To speed up things, disable your windows firewall, test if it helps, then enable your firewall again and start fixing... This rules out very quickly if you have a firewall-related problem or not...

I dont think it is a firewall issue you are having. I have experienced the same thing on my laptop. The following fixed it for me:

copy libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll from C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Virtual Infrastructure Client\2.5 to C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Launcher.
