Hi, I had this problem once before and solved it by moving some files around and figured it was solved. Now it happened again so I thought I would see what you guys think.

Right now when I start vmware fusion it shows 2 separate Boot Camp partitions. When of course there is only 1. I have my bootcamp partition running on my second hard drive and it works fine when starting with bootcamp.

VMware says:
BootCamp partition on /dev/disk0
BootCamp partition on /dev/disk1

Disk 1 is where it actually should be, but VM ware can not start either one.

I could fix this myself again, but I forgot where VMware stores the .vmdk files ? Anyone know the path? Something like Mac Hard Drive -> Library -> ???

(Notice): I just found my notes here is the band-aid if you have this problem. An actual answer / fix to this question would be great though.
Path: /users/YOUR USERNAME/Libarary/Application Support/VMware Fusion/Virtual Machines/Boot Camp/

Here you see your VMware Bootcamp folders with the VMinforamtion in them.

Somehow for me I have 2 folders (Disk1 and Disk0), I should only have (Disk1).

My Fix:
Remove both files under the Boot Camp folder here. Then restart VMWare. It works, but eventually I will have another
disk0 folder...

Don't mean to hijack here, but didn't really want to start a new thread...

What is the importance of Fusion seeing the Bootcamp partition? Can Fusion boot an OS in the/a bootcamp partition?

The problem is that OS X does not consistently number disks, i.e. what is currently disk0 could later be disk1. Fusion uses the disk number to keep track of drives, so this renumbering confuses it. The developers are aware this is annoying/problematic and are considering alternate solutions.

Yes, that is exactly the point.

etung,

SWEET. I wasn't aware Fusion would do that. I'll have my Macbook tomorrow... I'm looking forward to playing with Fusion, as I will have good reason to use it, and seeing that it can boot an OS installed via Bootcamp, that makes it all the better.

Note that there are some limitations of using a Boot Camp partition (see Choosing the Right Virtual Machine Settings).

I've suspected the BSD name changing as the culprit for this annoyance for some time now I but have just now found a thread on the subject. It's been over a year since the original post and the issue is still there. Is the Fusion team still looking for a solution?
